The millennium has brought with it a gadget- savvy revolution across the world. The use of Internet to procure knowledge has outgrown in the past few decades. Today, science has placed “Smartphones” in the hands of the common man. A combination of the two as a handy mode of obtaining/ sharing information is not novel. Academicians to apprentices, consider this modernization, a boon to the scientific fraternity. Though side-lined, conventional textbooks are still the preferred source of first-hand information. Difficulty arises when multiple hard covers need to be accessed for topics that are not assimilated or explained in depth in one particular textbook. Further, constant access to the Internet, is either limited or unavailable to many. With an aim to mitigate this predicament, an adjunct to the traditional forms of imparting knowledge now stands amongst us. Perio Geek, has been developed to aid dentists’ attain expertise in those aspects of Periodontology, that have been under covers or recently discovered and are not significantly highlighted in commonly referred textbooks. The application aims to act as a one stop solution for renewing one’s intellect by providing up to- date notes for immediate revision regarding the same. It intends to take Periodontology a step closer to the horizon! The first screen of the application comprises of nineteen such topics.
